architect and gardener best known for his efforts to turn front
lawns into edible landscapes and who is now also focusing on
landscapes that sustain wildlife. His York Lecture, entitled “,”
will discuss the role of the artist and designer in society at
large, and the roles they may play in how we relate to our
environment and one another. He will also give an overview of
his landscape projects that are turning lawns and landscapes
into spaces that sustain both human and animal life.
