We are proud to announce the opening of our new ag library! A lot of us rely on books and other media that is not available in our local library. Buying all those books could eat up plenty of profits, which is why ASAN is now making them available on loan to its members and partners, and now has over 50 titles to choose from.

Library use is available to ASAN members at the $25 or above level as well as participants in ASAN’s Farmer-to-Farmer and Food Systems Initiative. Please call for more information on either program or join ASAN.

How do I get the books or videos? You can call, write or email your book request. We will keep an updated list of books available online. We put the book in the mail with a return label included. Mail it back using the return label, which will include ASAN’s address and postage. In 2008 as we test our system we will not charge you for the shipping cost (within the U.S.). Or stop by if you are in Hartselle (call first! 256-520-2400).

How long can I keep the books or videos? We ask that you keep the book for no more than two weeks or contact us to renew the book. If there is a waiting list for that book you will not be able to keep it.

What will keep people from not returning the books or videos? We require a $30 deposit, which covers the cost of the book plus the additional cost it takes to replace the book. Members that do not return what they have borrowed may not borrow in the future.

Where do the books or videos come from? Most of the books we currently offer have been donated to us or purchased using private donations. If you would like to donate a title, please contact us at info@asanonline.org or 256-751-3925. Donations to ASAN are tax-deductible.
