Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS)

Works with land users to reduce erosion, improve water quality,
promote good land use, improve pasture and woodland conditions, and
conserve soil, water, and other natural resources. Provides
assistance in developing conservation plans for farms and ranches
and some funding to put those plans into effect. Also publishes
county soil surveys.

Administers the federal crop insurance program and supports a risk management educational program that trains farmers to compete and be successful in the marketplace. Rural Development www.rurdev.usda.gov 334-279-3400 Financial programs support essential public facilities and services. Promotes economic development by supporting loans to businesses and offering technical assistance and information to help agricultural and other cooperatives and to help communities undertake community empowerment programs. Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education www.sare.org 301-504-5236 Provides grant opportunities, maintains database of research reports, develops books, bulletins, and educator guides. |
